Waverton House
This stone house is built around the familiar 18th century formula of a single central staircase lit from above and surrounded by rooms on both floors. The detail is the stone vernacular of the Cotswolds combined with the bolder expression of Sanmicheli, especially in the Ionic doorcase. It is a great example of how a traditional building mellows and improves with age.
